Kicking The Can
Radiophrenia was a sound art project flourish did with EO & Flora at the woodlands community gardens, The theme was EARTH, FIRE, WATER & WIND.
We learned to use recording devices to collect the best sounds we could from around their garden.
We also arranged words to make poems and walked down to the river (& got stuck under a tree in the rain) but members chatted and recorded each other which all added to the nuance of the recording,
Our Project was called ‘Kicking the Can’.
The Launch
The Launch was great Eleanor & Steev led members to the CCA building on Sauchiehall Street, Where we sat in the cinema which was very snug,
4 other groups participated in the launch, Amina women’s Muslim charity, Govanhill fishermen group, ‘We see you’- (addiction charity) & Flourish House.
The first part was funny because it was about fish and i really enjoyed it and after it I asked if a fish can fart and everybody laughed, they checked later and apparently they can (and can even communicate with them as well), The women’s Muslim charity recording was next & was very good Then ours was next.
Listening Live
During the Launch members listened to the recording we made and enjoyed what had been produced, lots of familiar voices, James S, Michel, Margaret, Stuart Low & more all adding to the ensemble
I have to admit i thought it was a bit strange but it was nice to hear the various sounds and speech of members,
The after show chat was very nice, we chatted with EO and Steev, Michel & Stuart C about the recordings and what we do at flourish house, Michel spoke about her helping with further Live Broadcasting’s for Radiophrenia which she has been doing and also Stuart, the various organisations were thanked for making it possible,
The last project to broadcast was the We see you addiction charity, i found this very challenging but it was extremely well done and the poetry was very good, i had to leave the cinema and listen outside as i was triggered but i went back inside and we had a group photo with our free T-shirts on,
Highlights
The highlight of the project for me was The Fish farting joke & the chat after our broadcast & i’m glad i didn’t leave before the end because a nice girl came and chatted to me but i didn’t get her name, she also had a fish joke about fish in Sweden during the cold war when they thought a Russian sub was hiding in the deep but scientist found out it was a shoal of haddock who where synchronizing their farts.
