Cycling

Flourish House runs an exciting cycling programme, including bike try outs for new cyclists, trips for beginners and longer cycles for more confident cyclists. We have bikes that members can borrow for these trips, and sometimes offer other interesting opportunities such as trying an electric bike we had on loan, or joining cycling lessons for women and NB people with Bike For Good. It’s great to hear directly from members about their experiences with our cycling group!

Interview with J

When did you start cycling with Flourish House?

April this year. I have not been on a bike since I was 15!

Did Flourish help you build confidence on a bike?

Yes they did! I learned how to use breaks, change gears and balance in narrow spaces.

I heard you bought yourself a bike, how has it been going?

It’s been going really well. I cycled all the way to Clydebank and back. I also cycled up to Bowling in West Dunbartonshire.

Have you been enjoying it?

Yes I have! I find it quite exhilarating. It’s also helped me travel further than I normally would away from home.

How do you like cycling now?

I think my fitness level has gone up, and it’s good for my mental wellbeing as well.

Do you still cycle with Flourish House?

Yes! Going with Flourish House, it’s good to be in a group and to exchange notes about cycling.
