Flourish House is run on the internationally
recognised Clubhouse model. The Clubhouse model aims to provide
vocational, educational and social opportunities to people
who have experienced severe or enduring mental health problems.
The Clubhouse model was first established in
New York in 1948 and has now grown into a worldwide community
of over 360 Clubhouses.
The Clubhouse model aims to create an environment
where individuals who have been affected by mental illness
can be helped to acquire the confidence and skills necessary
to lead vocationally productive and socially satisfying lives
The Clubhouse places a particular emphasis
on finding opportunities for members to participate productively
in meaningful work, education and social settings. Members
play a full and active part in running the service, working
in partnership with staff to ensure the smooth day to day
running of the house and contributing to policy development.
