The
Administration Unit provides many varied tasks from the
very simple to those that are more complicated.
Members
and staff of the Unit are involved in Reception duties,
general typing, entering statistical information onto a
PC database, using SAGE Line 50 accountancy, and other financial
tasks. Additional jobs include filing, stationery,
mail outs, designing Reachout cards, compiling information
packs, general PC maintenance and much more besides.
The
Unit is also responsible for producing and editing a monthly
newsletter, the Flourish Times - members and staff can contribute
in many ways to this publication, including articles, research,
creative writing, reviews, quizzes etc. The Flourish
Times is produced primarily for members. However,
it also has a vast readership around the world, with 130+
copies being posted to external organizations/individuals.
The
Adminstration Unit provides a fun and friendly working atmosphere
which promotes independence while building positive working
relationships.
.
Members
don't need any prior Admin knowledge - learning and experience
is gained by working alongside Unit colleagues (staff and
members), at a pace that suits them. We encourage
peer support from experienced members to help newer members
settle in and this has proven to be most successful.
The
work that is carried out in the Admin Unit can provide a
good grounding if members are considering returning to education.
It can also provide essential skills for those wishing
to progress onto Transitional Employment Placements, Supported
Employment, and if desired, independent employment.
